"THE SIMPSONS" SIGNING AND ART OPENING: If you love Springfield's most animated family, you love the annual "Treehouse of Horror" episode (we remember the pigeon/rat fondly). If you can't wait for the always-around-Halloween show, there's a new "Treehouse" comic, and a slew of the strange pens behind it will be in person, signing, at Family. That includes Matt Groening. If you've got the guts, stay for the "Simpson"-y art show. Family on Fairfax, 7PM.
CONCERTS: Jackson Browne sings in support of Artists for a New South Africa at The Wiltern (look for a host of special guests and speakers, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu); Miley Cyrus and Metro Station make for Staples Center; and Amoeba Records presents a free show spotlighting the release of "Los Angeles Nuggets" and some of the great artists of the '60s scene.
HIKING WITH TOM LABONGE: Councilman LaBonge seems to be everywhere. The District 4 rep spoke at Farmers Market's 75th anniversary; he made LA picks for Los Angeles magazine. Now he's hosting his annual Fall Equinox Hike. You're invited. Just meet at 5:30PM at the north end of the parking lot for Griffith Observatory. Dress in comfy hiking clothes. And prepare to walk to the top of Mount Hollywood with the councilman.
